Herne Bay and Whitstable burglaries off Old Thanet Way linked by police

Two building site burglaries off the Old Thanet Way have been linked by police.

The first reportedly took place between 7.40pm and 8.30pm on Wednesday, March 7, when two intruders were seen on a site in Whitstable.

A number of containers were broken into and the offenders had piled up tools but fled empty-handed when police arrived.

A further burglary is believed to have happened between 6pm on Friday night and 7.30am the following morning at a building site off the Old Thanet Way in Herne Bay.

On this occasion, a stereo, television, cash and power tools were.

Officers are linking both incidents and are asking people to report any suspicious activity at construction sites.

PC Lisa Riddle, the investigating officer, said: “The offenders would have needed a vehicle to transport the stolen items, so if you saw one in either area between the relevant times we would like to hear from you.

“We are also asking people to keep their eyes peeled.”
