A Swedish bride and an English groom will tie the knot in Kent tomorrow at the exact time their respective nations clash in the World Cup.
In a remarkable turn of fate, Ingela Hansson, 47, and Kieran McSweeney, 45, will marry in front of friends and family on Herne Bay pier at 3pm on Saturday - just when Gareth Southgate's side take on their Scandinavian opponents for a place in the semi-finals.
Wedding planners are well-prepared however, and have arranged to have a television set up ready to show the match the second the ceremony concludes.
Beach Hut Weddings organiser Kirsty Walker said: "Ingela and Kieran booked the wedding back in February, so what are the chances this was going to happen?
"We've only just opened on the pier, with the aim of providing couples with a low-cost but stylish way to get married.
"All the traders here are supporting the wedding, we've got a fish and chip shop supplying the food and a brewery supplying the beer so it's been a nice community effort.
"I'm sure they'll both have a lovely day, but I think we're hoping the groom is that little bit happier afterwards."
