A dad-of-four says a stranger spat on his two-year-old daughter in her pram.
Colin Manser, 34, was out walking with little Alice in the William Street area of Herne Bay.
Mr Manser said: "I got to what is known locally as the Christmas Shop - the High Street Warehouse - and I stopped to have a cigarette with the two ladies that work there.
"We continued to go pick my son up from nursery. We got to the swimming pool and it was as if he appeared from nowhere.
"Then he bent down and he spat in my daughter's face. It was disgusting.
"She had a lovely brightly coloured Beanie Baby teddy we'd spent ages getting for her - we had to throw it away because it was covered in spit."
Mr Manser also took Alice to get checked over by the GP, who found no problems but advised him to return if there were any changes.
He added: "On and off, I've lived in this town nearly 20 years. Having this happen to one of my children, I just never expected it.
"It's not fair to my little girl."
Police are investigating a report of an assault in William Street, Herne Bay, on April 30.
A spokesman said: "A 43-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested on Thursday, May 2, on suspicion of assault and subsequently released pending further investigation."
