Conservative Ann Taylor has swept to victory in the Reculver by-election.
The former Lord Mayor of Canterbury scooped 39% of the vote, edging out Ukip's Michael O'Brien for a seat left vacant by the resignation of Tory Guy Foster.
Results of the count were revealed at the Westgate Hall this morning.
Cllr Taylor polled 421 votes, Mr O'Brien 306, Labour's Simon Warley 251 and Ann Anderson, for the Lib Dems, 93.
Turnout was 35%.
The result sees Cllr Taylor return to the council, having chosen not to stand at last year's local elections.
