Travellers move into Hampton, Herne Bay
11:12, 05 July 2018
A group of travellers that took over Neptune car park in Herne Bay has moved to a green further along the seafront.
Five caravans arrived in Central Parade at about 9pm on Tuesday, as four others set up camp in the Memorial Park.
After police and enforcement officers visited both sites yesterday morning, the group at the car park joined the others in Dering Road.
But just before 9.30pm last night, the caravans pitched up on a green in Swalecliffe Avenue.
Council spokesman Rob Davies said: "We are aware a group of travellers has moved from the Memorial Park in Herne Bay to an area of land in Hampton overnight.
"Our enforcement officers are on the scene. We will work as quickly as the law allows to remove them."
