Herne Junior School: Vandals destroy garden

15:42, 27 February 2017

Mindless vandals have destroyed a school garden in Herne Bay.

Heartbroken staff at Herne Junior School found their outdoor area had been damaged when they returned to work last week.

Now a fundraising page set up to replace plants and equipment has reached more than £1,000.

Sherrie Tappenden, who organised the page, says all cash will go towards the school.

“Ella’s Garden was vandalised over the holidays and the plants, resources and polytunnel have been damaged beyond repair,” she said.

“So many people have offered help and have wanted to make a donation to get it back up and running, so we opened the fundraising page to raise some money for equipment and plants to keep the kids’ gardening and learning about growing as quickly as possible.”
