Thousands of pounds of tools have been stolen from vans following a spree of late-night break-ins in Herne Bay.

Overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday, two vehicles in Victoria Park and another in Cavendish Road were raided.

Police are investigating and reviewing nearby CCTV cameras.

PC James Gall is urging local tradesmen to be vigilant.

"We appreciate it’s not ideal to remove tools from cars and vans on a daily basis but would encourage people, where possible, to do so or consider additional security measures," he added.

"In these instances doors were forced and locks were damaged. Consider CCTV if you don’t already have it along with security lights on your driveway.

"All residents should bear this in mind. Certainly don’t leave anything on display, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant. All it does is give thieves an opportunity to window shop."
