Woman, 19, dies after caravan park 'attack'

A man arrested on suspicion of murder remains in custody as it emerged that his alleged victim was just 19.
The 63-year-old was arrested on Friday afternoon after the young woman died at the Westlands Caravan Park near Herne Bay.
Police had been called to the park in Canterbury Road, Herne Common, at 2pm following reports of a serious assault.

The teenager, who knew the man arrested, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Forensics teams were sent to the park, which is opposite the Canterbury Garden Centre and near the junction with Bullockstone Road.

A KentOnline reporter was last night stopped from entering the site by officers guarding the entrance.
This morning the owner of the park refused to speak to our reporter or allow them onto the site, which is home to about 160 caravans.
