Woman killed in head-on crash

A WOMAN died after the car she was driving was involved in a head-on crash with a van in a four-vehicle pile-up on the old Thanet Way between Whitstable and Herne Bay.
The woman, thought to have been in her 30s, came from the Herne Bay area but she has not yet been named. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The van driver was taken to the QEQM hosptial at Margate and is in a stable condition in the intensive therapy unit with serious injuries.
The crash occurred at about 7.10pm on Monday on the A2990 close to the Greenhill roundabout.
The driver and a passenger in a Seat Ibiza were taken to the QEQM along with the Ford Fiesta driver. A woman and two children also in the Fiesta received minor injuries.
Three fire crews from Herne Bay and Whitstable were called along with police and ambulance crews.
The investigating officer, PC Glyn Walker, of Kent Police’s Serious Collision Unit, has appealed for witnesses who should contact 01622 798538.
