Herne Bay hope to have a full complement to choose from for the first time this season.

Bay have had a number of injury problems in the first two months of the campaign.

Players are returning to full fitness for their next Bostik South East match against Phoenix Sports on Tuesday.

Joint manager John Embery said: “We are hoping to have Danny Leonard back as well as Alex Skinner and Raphe Brown coming back to full fitness.

“The goalkeeper Ben Hunter is getting there and Danny Rumbol is returning from injuries he got in a car crash.

“We are not sure yet about whether Matt Fry will play because of work commitments.

“It will be the first time we will have a complete squad to choose from.”

By the time Bay face Phoenix Sports on Tuesday it will be two weeks since their last fixture.

In their last match they beat Ramsgate 5-4 and picked up their first win of the season.

Bay wanted to build on that performance to get their season going but the break in matches has not helped.

It will also be three Saturday’s in a row that they have not had a match to play on a Saturday.

Embery said: “It is not the best scenario. We wanted to build on the momentum from that 5-4 win over Ramsgate but it will be two weeks from when we last played.

“We are getting players back to fitness so there are some positives to take from not playing.

“It gives us a chance to get the whole squad back and play them against the under-23s to get that match fitness up.

“We played a behind closed doors game with our under-23s team on Saturday and we hope to play one again today (Thurs).

“It will allow us to work on a few things ahead of that game with Phoenix.

“We are watching them on Saturday and do a report on them so we are as prepared as we can be.”

The Herne Bay squad are eager to get back on the pitch after a long spell without a game.

Embery added: “Everyone is chomping at the bit to get back out there and play. They are hoping they can carry on from where they left off against Ramsgate.

“To score five goals against Ramsgate is not easy and we could have scored more.”
