Herne Bay Youth FC have set up a men’s team - and have already raised more than £2,000 for good causes.
The side, which comprises a mixture of mostly coaches and parents, have the sole intention of playing in pre-organised fixtures against other charity teams to raise money for local charities and causes.
Overall, they have played three matches and raised £2,265.
One of the local charities which Herne Bay Youth have raised money for is SNAAP (Special Needs Advisory & Activities Project in Kent) which provides support to parents and carers of disabled and special needs children.
They have raised £1,645 for them.
After one of their matches on Sunday, January 8, they presented a cheque to SNAAP manager Carrie Wood.
Herne Bay Youth hope to raise another £2,000 to £3,000 this year and intend to play at least five of these games a year, as well as a tournament in the summer.
