Hawkinge go through in Trophy

Teams from the Herne Bay & Whitstable Sunday League were in cup action last weekend.

Bridge’s interest in the Kent Junior Trophy ended at Hawkinge. Goals from Phil Punyer and Tony Huggins could not prevent their team from going down 3-2.

Field and Rising Sun produced a thrilling spectacle in the Challenge Cup. With the teams level 3-3 after extra-time, Rising Sun won 6-5 on penalties. Field’s goals came from Adam Oxberry (2) and John Goodwin, with Sun replying through Scott Drake, Micky Lane and Lee Austin (penalty).

The Tommy Coulter Cup second round tie between Bay Wanderers and Waterfront also went into extra-time, but penalties were avoided when Waterfont’s Luke Lockhart put through his own net to give Bay a 5-4 win.

Louis Brister (3) and Dan Tanner scored for Bay in normal time, with Waterfront’s goals coming from Anthony Leas (2), Lockhart and Dan Alton.

East Kent Gills edged Chartham 4-3. Gills found the net through Obi (2), Joe Bill and Gavin George, with Steven Baines, Ricky Bromly and Joe Mort netting for Chartham.

In the second round of the Henry Delo Cup, New Inn Rangers defeated Adisham 3-0.

Falcons dominated against Market Inn – Rob Dando (2), Martin Stokes (2), Nigel Grace, Ricky Minshull and Gilliun Tutt scored their goals in a 7-1 rout.

Courtney Reserves were beaten 4-1 by Millfield in the first round of the Catling Cup. Millfield’s Dan Hine scored all his side’s goals, while Graham Hampton got the consolation for Courtney.
