All the drama came at the death as Herne Bay drew at Erith & Belvedere in Isthmian South East.
Fifth-placed Bay looked set to leave empty-handed after Cameron Andrews gave the relegation-threatened Deres an 88th-minute lead at Park View Road.
But Bay kept plugging away and Gil Carvalho salvaged a 1-1 draw in the fourth minute of added time.
Improving Ashford came from a goal down at half-time to beat Horndean.
Freddie Chester struck just before half-hour mark as the visitors went in front.
Bradley Ryan levelled straight after the break, with late goals from Tolulope Jonah and Harvey Brand completing a 3-1 victory as Kevin Watson’s side made it four games unbeaten in all competitions, moving up a place to 10th.
