Premier boss Scott Kennett has reaped the rewards of the club’s excellent start to their first season in the Vandanel Kent County League by being named Eastern Section Manager-of-the-Month for October.

Kennett received his award from league chairman Cyril Windiate at Tenterden on Saturday when Michael Groom’s second hat-trick in successive games set-up a 3-0 win, to keep them four points clear at the top of Division 2 East.

The league’s motto is "Fair Play We Lead the Way" and managers are rewarded for success on the field as well as good disciplinary records.

Kennett said: "It was a nice surprise and a bit of a shock. Our discipline has been very good, and we try to make sure that players don’t argue with referees. I think we have only had three bookings so far, and they all came in one game.

"It was a tough game at Tenterden, we hit the post three times in the first half, and their goalkeeper made several outstanding saves."
