Herne Bay are facing up to life on the road with six of their next eight games all away.

The visit of Worthing to Winch’s Field on Saturday is their last home Ryman League Division 1 South fixture for nearly a month but assistant manager Gavin Theze isn’t too concerned.

He said: "We went two months without playing at home last season because of problems with our pitch and got used to it.

"You miss having your own crowd behind you but (manager) Sam Denly and I set up the same way, looking to get forward and having a go at teams."

Bay are up to eighth in Ryman League Division 1 South after winning 2-0 at Walton Casuals on Wednesday night.

An Ebrima Adams own goal put the visitors ahead early on and Stuart King doubled their lead on 84 minutes - just before Harry Brown was sent off for a second bookable offence.

That followed Saturday’s 2-0 win at bottom side Horsham – Bay completing the double over the Sussex strugglers courtesy of only their third away from home this season.

Theze said: "We arrived to find they have got a new manager and several new players but we looked at it as a must-win game and ground out a result."

Theze was pleased young left-back Michael Turner was among the scorers and said: "He is pretty defensive minded and I am trying to get him forward more. He hit it well and their keeper fumbled it into the net.”

Meanwhile, Dan Parkinson has moved to Tonbridge Angels. The midfielder was on dual-registration terms with Bay from parent club Maidstone United.

Bay hit the road again on Tuesday when they travel to Walton and Hersham (7.45pm).
