Herne Bay manager Gavin Theze admits home fixture with Three Bridges in a 'massive' game

Results haven’t mirrored performances in recent weeks, according to Herne Bay assistant manager Gavin Theze.
Back-to-back defeats against Lewes have taken the gloss off winning at Dorking Wanderers a fortnight ago, while wins for Faversham and Ramsgate this week have dropped Bay back to 17th in Ryman League, Division 1 South, ahead of the visit of second-bottom Three Bridges to Winch’s Field on Saturday.
Theze said: “We need to get going again and it’s a massive game. (Boss) Sam Denly and I have been pleased with the performances in the last six or seven games but we haven’t been getting the results.
“It was another pleasing display in the second half (in the 3-1 defeat at Lewes) but a mistake cost us.
“We won 3-2 at Three Bridges earlier in the season. They looked lively going forward, with the three boys up top quick but were not so good defensively.
“Faversham and Ramsgate both winning didn’t help us but we need to go on a run like we have done before and get to the 40-45 point mark as soon as we can.”
Denly, who missed the 1-0 Kent Reliance sponsored Senior Cup home defeat against Dover on Monday night because of flu, added: “Three Bridges is a winnable game. We have been too inconsistent – that’s why we are where we are.”
Bay were forced to make five changes against Chris Kinnear’s side, after Connor Sanders (groin) and Chris Elliott (thigh) were both injured at Lewes, while Gary Sayer (cut eye) was also ruled out. Joe Nelder and Adam Woolcott missed the game due to work commitments.
Youngsters Izzy Adebayo and Travis Jackson got their first taste of senior action off the bench.
Bay hope Sayer recovers in time to play against Three Bridges, while Nelder and Woolcott will return to the squad.
