00:00, 06 March 2003
THERE will be some tickets left for the boxing show at the King’s Hall, Herne Bay, on Friday.
The dinner tables are sold out, but seats for the boxing, at £5 each, are still available. The boxing starts at 8.30pm, after the dinner from 7pm.
The 15 bouts, sponsored by Coastal Construction, will include an 8st contest featuring Herne Bay’s Jake Chidgey, who is unbeaten after two fights, against Paul Dorn, of Portsmouth, who has won his first three.
Chidgey’s second win came last week at Wandsworth, where he knocked out Thomas Cooke, of Fitzroy Lodge, in the first round.
Another highlight will be the appearance of former British featherweight champion Sean Murphy, who is expected to bring his Lonsdale Belt to the event.
His son, Danny, will be fighting a revenge bout against Canterbury Boxing Club member James Chiericato, of Whitstable, who beat him in the semi-finals of the National Schoolboy Championships a year ago.
The host club’s Kent 75kg champion Eddie Foster will fight John Dibble, of Foley ABC, while trainer’s son Jordan Lupton, aged 11, faces Steve McCully, of Danson Youth.
Brothers Frank and Dave Pearce, of Foley, respectively fight local welterweight debutant Nema Kass and, at 72kg, Dave Tresco, while Herne Bay’s Louis Leggit takes on Steve Nelson, of Ling ABC.
