A planning application for 44 new homes on a field in Hythe has been submitted.
The proposal, from Kingston Homes, would see a mix of flats and houses, plus access and open spaces, built on land off Station Road.
The plot has been used as a paddock on occasions but is otherwise empty, and has been earmarked for residential development.
The proposed homes would include nine two-bed apartments, 14 three-bed apartments, eight three-bed houses, eight four-bed houses and five five-bed houses.
Two artist impressions have been revealed in the application, from Lee Evans architectural studio.
Planning documents state that design has been "developed to reflect the local vernacular whilst using the latest materials and glazing to provide high quality housing".
The literature adds: "The layout and designs have been carefully considered to ensure scale and massing are appropriate particularly with reference to topography within the valley setting.
"A mix of housing types is proposed to provide high quality space with varied layouts, to meet modern demands."
A 'spacious' green is also proposed, which "extends the full length of the site including an informal play area".
So far, only one comment from a member of the public has been made on the application, and raises concerns about access.
It reads: "Having lived here for five years I am extremely worried about the site entrance.
"This is a very fast road with numerous accidents on the sharp bend where Station Road meets Blackhouse Hill. At this point there are five junctions meeting. Also coming up the hill there have been numerous accidents, the road service is in a terrible state!
"Also a number of cars are sometimes parked on the road opposite the site."
The application is listed as 'under consultation' on Folkestone and Hythe District Council's planning portal.
A decision is expected by June.
