A former Aldi store has gone on the market for more than £2 million.
The 1,739 sqm shop, found at 70-72 High Street, Hythe, has been empty since the end of September when the German supermarket moved into its new premises on the out-of-town Kengate Industrial Estate.
Aldi had occupied its former store for 19 years, but is now selling it for £2,200,000.
Alternatively it is also being advertised to let, with a price of £180,000 per annum.
The shop is being marketed by Cradick Retail on 'the instructions of Aldi', and describes it as a 'substantial retail unit available in town centre location'.
It notes that it has two floors, with the ground floor measuring 1,037.8sqm and the first floor 701.8sqm.
The agent also reveals that the owner would consider splitting the premises, therefore providing more than one new business opportunity in the town.
The listing states: "The subject property is prominently located in the heart of the town and benefits from dual access onto both the High Street and Mount Street.
"Nearby occupiers include Costa Coffee, Boots and WH Smiths together with several other multiple and good quality independent operators.
"Our clients will consider a split of the accommodation, subject to covenant strength.
"Offers are invited for this rarely available opportunity."
The details add that the Mount Street car park is 'part-owned within the title', even though it is managed by the local authority.
Aldi moved into in its new multi-million pound 1,254 sqm store on September 26.
Scores of customers queued outside ahead of its 8am opening, which saw Olympian rower James Foad, who competed in the 2012 London games winning a bronze medal, cut the ribbon along with Hythe primary school children.
The first customer through the door was awarded champagne and chocolates, while the next 30 were given fruit and veg parcels.
Aldi said it decided to relocate from the smaller high street store to provide a larger range of stock and boost profits.
