Three lion cubs have been born in Kent today.

Lioness Oudrika gave birth earlier today at Port Lympne Hotel and Reserve, near Hythe.

The first lion was born this morning

The animal park announced she was pregnant last month, posting on Facebook: "We are delighted to announce that Oudrika, lioness of the Port Lympne pride, is showing signs of being pregnant.

"Our team believes that she is expecting her cubs in the near future."

Following the happy arrival of one cub this morning, keepers believed at least one other cub could be on the way.

This afternoon, two more were born.

Oudrika is not a first time mum - she gave birth to three cubs in 2019, named Kulinda, Khari and Binti.

The trio were the first to be born at the popular animal park in over 10 years.

Although the animal park, part of the Aspinall Foundation, is closed to visitors you can still see the animals through live cameras.

That includes footage of the new babies, which you can view through Cub Cam.

Earlier this month, bosses at the park launched an urgent appeal to help it save three lions and a family of brown bears.

The charity fears it may be forced to abandon its plans to re-home the creatures at Port Lympne if it fails to raise its £250,000 target.
