Thousands of people visited for the first full day of The Hythe Festival. Saturday’s events began with the crowning of Miss Hythe Festival, Lisa Wells.

A grand parade followed through the High Street from Douglas Avenue to Red Lion Square.

Among those in the parade were the Hythe Town Band and their twin town counterparts from Poperinge in Belgium, the Royal British Legion, Hythe Ukelele Band, the town’s Guides, Brownies and Rainbows and East Kent Piping Society.

Meanwhile, shopkeepers in Hythe are battling it out this week with a First World War themed window dressing competition.

Businesses in the town centre are getting into the creative spirit for the town's annual festival.
