Forty people enjoyed an early festive lunch after a kind-hearted stranger offered to pay for it.
The generous man, who wishes to remain anonymous, donated more than £200 to Age UK, in Hythe and Lyminge, to put on the special dinner.
As a result, guests were treated to roast turkey with all the trimmings followed by Christmas pudding, tea and a mince pie.
Hayley Ross, service manager for the charity, said: "Last month we were approached by a man who had been talking to an elderly neighbour about her day.
"She stated that she was off to lunch at Age UK in Hythe and he though it was a lovely place for people to meet which provided this lady with company, social interaction and a decent meal when she visited.
"The gentleman stated that he has not always been in a position where he was able to help other people at this time of year, but now he was able, he wanted to help those living later life in our community enjoy Christmas.
"He certainly managed that, with nearly 40 people attending a full two course Christmas dinner, including a drop of fizz, crackers, entertainment and laughter."
