Horse box in pile-up on M20

00:00, 27 December 2006

THREE horses were left shaken but unhurt after a collision on the M20 near Hythe.

Four vehicles and a horse box were involved in the crash at 9.30am today on the London bound carriageway.

A red Peugeot 206 travelling in the outside lane crashed into the central reservation and a woman and her six-year-old son were taken to hospital but were not seriously hurt.

Three other vehicles involved were on the hard shoulder. A Leyland Roadrunner with a maroon horse box was on its side across two lanes of the motorway, causing major tailbacks.

Fire crews from Folkestone and Wye were called as well as police, Highways and the ambulance service.
