Tim Dixon has spoken out following his sacking as Hythe Town manager on Sunday.

Dixon lost his job with the Cannons third-bottom in Ryman League Division 1 South and winless in 12 games in all competitions this season.

He said: "I'm disappointed but should I be surprised? I don't think so.

"It's a results industry and if you look at the other two teams around us, Chipstead and Whitstable, they've already got rid of their managers.

"Performances have not been good enough. Losing 2-1 at Walton Casuals on Saturday, it was a very winnable game and we should have got an equaliser from the last kick of the game."

Dixon knew what was coming after his side's sixth league defeat of the season.

He said: "I could tell by the mannerisms of certain people, especially the chairman.

"I was hoping to at least make it to Tuesday, to get a shot at Whitstable but I said to Darren (Beale) on the way home 'the call might come before that' and it did, yesterday afternoon.

"There's no animosity. Paul Markland's a good businessman and he's made that decision.

"Good luck to the football club. I only went there in the first place because it's lovely club with decent people - and that remains the same."
