Tim Dixon expects a spicy Kent derby on Tuesday night when he takes Hythe to Herne Bay.

Hythe lost 1-0 at home to Burgess Hill on Saturday in what was Dixon's first competitive game as Town manager.

The former Ramsgate boss is now looking to get his first points on the board at Winch's Field.

Dixon said: "There’s a little bit of added spice, with the players knowing each other.

"Dan Eason (the Hythe goalkeeper) is going back to his former club, he had a great time there, and a couple of the Herne Bay players are familiar with us. It’ll be good to see some familiar faces and catch up with people – but I hope we end up with the right result.

"Early in the season you get quite a few derbies; we’ve also got Sittingbourne and Ramsgate coming up.

"You can’t pick and choose who you play against but the lads would rather get straight into the games. It’s a tough beginning of the season, with the amount of games that come thick and fast."

Herne Bay drew 0-0 away to Ryman League Division 1 South newcomers Carshalton on Saturday.
