Former Gillingham midfielder Darren Oldaker is back in Kent football - five months after he left Priestfield.
Oldaker has joined Isthmian South East Hythe Town, a club he has previously played for on loan.
The 21-year-old has been without a club since leaving Billericay Town in November following a brief spell at the Essex outfit.
Oldaker left Gillingham in August - just months after he signed a long-term deal with the club until 2021.
He made 21 league appearances for the Gills but was not part of manager Steve Evans' plans.
When he left Gillingham, Oldaker said: "My time at Gillingham has been amazing, the club I made my league debut and many more great memories, going to miss the dressing room like mad, the boys are great lads.
“Thankyou to all the staff that have helped me get to where I am today. Thankyou to all the fans that have supported me and to the ones that have given me stick it’s all a learning curve.
“I felt it was only right for me to look after myself and move on. Good luck to the rest for the season and many years to come.”
Oldaker featured for Hythe on loan at the end of the 2017/18 season - making 14 appearances in total.
It was a busy day for Hythe boss Steve Watt, who has also snapped up former Dover Athletic and Dartford forward Tom Murphy.
The 28-year-old joins on loan from Isthmian Premier Cray Wanderers. He was named as a substitute for Sheppey last weekend in their Kent Senior Trophy tie over Erith Town.
