Captain James Morrish says Hythe Town fear no-one with 10 weeks left to chase down a play-off spot.

Morrish was part of the Cannons side which started the season with a 10-match winless run, culminating with Tim Dixon losing his job as manager.

But the midfielder has led their renaissance under new boss Clive Cook as Hythe have produced championship form to drag themselves back into promotion contention.

They’ve won five games in a row, 13 of their last 16 and Morrish said: "We’ve beaten everyone in the top four so we’ve got nothing to fear.

"We go into every game thinking we’re going to win. We’ve got a spirit and mindset that we’re going to win.

"We’d like to make the play-offs. I’m not saying we will but if we carry on the way we are, we will. We’d like to be in and around there.

"Considering the start we had, we’re not doing too bad. At home, I think we can beat anyone. We’ve won eight in a row now.

"It doesn’t matter who we play at home, we think we’re going to win at the minute. We’ve got a good side now. If we’d had this side from the start, we’d have been up there with (league leaders) Folkestone."

Only defender Josh Burchell and goalkeeper Joe Mant have played more games for Hythe this season than Morrish.

He said: "It’s been a massive turnaround. Clive’s made a great difference, there’s a better atmosphere and everyone around the club is happy.

"Clive lets us play how we want to play, he just says ‘go and enjoy yourself.’ He doesn’t put any pressure on you.

"It’s good man-management, he knows how to talk to people in the right way and does the right things. Will Graham’s been good, Mark Lane’s been good, there’s a good connection between the three of them.

"It’s like being in a different place. It was negative at the start – when you’re losing, everyone’s heads are down but now everyone’s happy, buzzing around the club, the chairman’s happy.

"It’s a good place to be at the minute."
