A team of fitness enthusiasts are aiming to climb Kilimanjaro - using their home staircases.
The participants are from Hythe-based AGF Fitness and over 40 of them are having to climb their stairs 213 times every day for two weeks to complete the ascent.
Each member of the team must climb 2,772 steps every day during the two weeks and their efforts are helping to raise money for charity. Each member will have climbed over 38,000 steps by the time they have finished.
The daughter of one of the team leaders has cystic fibrosis, a life-limiting genetic condition that slowly destroys the lungs and other organs.
Another team member is affiliated with a local animal rescue.
The team are therefore fundraising for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Last Chance Animal Rescue in New Romney.
Team leader Alastair Griggs said: “During these unprecedented times it is key that we all maintain positive physical and mental well-being; it is also imperative we do what we can to support good causes who are particularly challenged during this crisis.
“We hope that our Kilimanjaro stair challenge will help raise much needed funds for two great causes and also put a smile on people’s faces.”
The AFG Fitness team is past the halfway stage of its ascent and has so far raised over £4,000 - double their initial target.
