Hythe Town have signed 21-year-old Phil Stevenson from Folkestone Invicta.

Stevenson joined Invicta aged 12, spending some time at the Nike Football Academy, and he played at full-back, centre-back and midfield for Neil Cugley's side.

Hythe assistant manager Darren Beale told the club's website: "I actually coached Phil as a 12-year-old and have followed his progress since, with Millwall and Folkestone over the years.

"We are grateful to Neil Cugley and Invicta for allowing us to sign him before the start of the season and allowing Phil to take up a new challenge.

"Tim has been impressed by him over the last couple of seasons and feels that he will only add strength to the squad."

Hythe's first game of the season is at home to Burgess Hill Town on Saturday.
