About 100 new jobs will be created when a £6 million care home complex opens near Sittingbourne in November.

The Hengist Field Care Centre is under construction on the outskirts of the village of Borden.

Nellsar Homes, a leading UK care homes provider, describes its new centre as a "state-of-the-art project".

The centre, scheduled to open in November, will have 75 beds for elderly residents needing nursing or dementia care.

Facilities include a small cinema, a sensory room, an internet café for resdients and relatives, a hairdressers and secure, landscaped grounds.

The centre is being built by local contractors Bryen & Langley and will have taken 18 months to complete. Work is due to finish next month.

An information centre has been opened in the grounds of another Nellsar home in Sittingbourne, the Woodstock Residential Home at 80 Woodstock Road.

Nellsar says it decided to build the Hengist Field Care Centre after demand for nursing beds in the area far outstripped demand.
