A pharmacy in Gravesend has installed a state-of-the-art ultraviolet air steriliser in a bid to keep staff and customers safe from Covid.
Regent Pharmacy in Windmill Street hopes its new piece of kit will provide an additional layer of protection - and reassurance - to those using the store.
It is believed to be one of the first in the UK to use the system.
The unit is designed to disinfect the air in enclosed spaces by using ozone-free ultraviolet.
According to recent research, it has been show to significantly reduce the viral load of Covid after just 10 seconds of being turned on.
Consultant pharmacist, Sunil Kochhar, said: “As we’ve remained open as an essential business throughout the pandemic, we’ve had to go the extra mile to ensure our facilities are ‘Covid secure’ whilst customers are coming in and out of the pharmacy.
"Due to the nature of our business, many people who enter the pharmacy are already vulnerable due to ongoing illnesses or caring for a loved one, so we can’t risk any chance of infection on the premises."
“The introduction of the new FagronLab UV-C Air Steriliser is one of the many measures we’re taking to keep everyone safe. It’s a compact unit that doesn’t take up too much space, and simply plugs in and gets to work. It’s simple to use, doesn’t require any additional time to operate and cleans the air as we continue to work through our normal day-to-day activities."
