CARMEL Sunley has joined law firm Brachers after a year in Australia.

For the last 20 years, she has worked as an employment law specialist acting for large commercial companies, local authorities, charities and trade unions.

Down Under, she was admitted as an Australian Lawyer by the Supreme Court of Victoria.

Her first role was in the legal department of George Wimpey PLC, working alongside the HR department providing employment law advice and training to the Wimpey group of companies. She later moved to Steeles LLP.

In 2003, she set up Sunley Solicitors, a specialist employment law practice. She lectures in employment law and undertakes bespoke training for employers.

Ms Sunley, who lives in Whitstable, said: “The employment team at Brachers is highly-respected and I hope my experience and specialisms will further help the team to grow.”

Catherine Daw, partner and head of employment, added: “It’s exciting to welcome a new member to the team and Carmel brings with her a wealth of experience particularly in the construction sector. Clients will benefit from her vast knowledge and practical approach.”
