University of Kent cartoon archive among 100 'most valuable' websites

THE British Cartoon Archive at Kent University is listed as one of the top 100 websites worth preserving for the future.
It was picked because of it is a “voluminous and essential resource into social and political history” and is “essential reading for future generations researching our life and times in 2013”.
The archive will feature in a project called Capturing the Digital Universe which aims to store UK websites for future generations.
Based at the university’s Templeman Library in Canterbury, it holds 150,000 cartoons by 350 cartoonists plus 100,000 newspaper clippings.
