Since opening in July 2022, West Street Tapas, based in Queenborough on the Isle of Sheppey, has welcomed hundreds of customers through the door to serve them delicious, authentic Spanish cuisine.
Now, the family-run restaurant is celebrating its first birthday – one year in business – and what an exciting year it has been! The team have been delighted with the response they have received, characterised by amazing reviews and repeat business.
On top of making lots of new friends, including Sheppey locals and people visiting from further afield, the venue has hosted numerous birthday parties, a wedding reception and a hen do, as well as various other special occasions.
The owners of West Street Tapas also own the Admiral’s Arm Micropub next door. In the past, the pub hosted food themed nights – one of which was tapas – and it proved to be incredibly popular. The team always had an idea in the back of their minds to open a tapas restaurant, so when the unit became available next door, it felt like it was meant to be.
As the only tapas restaurant in the Swale area, West Street Tapas offers something different from the usual pub food found in the area. It brings a taste of Spain to Queenborough, offering an intimate dining experience and a carefully crafted menu of traditional Spanish tapas dishes lovingly cooked with high-quality ingredients and attention to detail.
The food menu features a selection of hot and cold tapas specialities, with two to three dishes per person recommended to share as a group. The most popular item on the menu is Albondigas, succulent Spanish-style meatballs homemade using West Street Tapas’ secret blend of herbs and spices and served with a tomato sauce.
Other customer favourites include Gambas PilPil, king prawns cooked in olive oil, garlic and chilli, and Barriga de Cerdo, slow cooked pork belly cooked in a dry sherry and honey glaze.
Tapas is great when enjoyed with a drink so to perfectly complement its food offering, West Street Tapas stocks a specialist range of Spanish wines, beers, ciders and spirits, as well as soft drinks.
During West Street Tapas’ birthday weekend, customers will be offered a free glass of Cava to enjoy with their meal.Tapas Thursday, which runs every week, will continue as usual.
This popular promotion offers a choice of three tantalising set menus – Vegetarino, Clasico and Especial – designed for two to share.
