Young people face greater challenges and difficulties than at any time in the past 25 years, according to the new chairman of an organisation set up to help them.
David Philpott, chairman of the Institute of Directors in Kent and former CEO of the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance, has been appointed independent chairman of CXK Ltd - formerly Connexions Kent and Medway.
He has taken over from Mary Gordon following her retirement after nine years at the helm since the Connexions Kent and Medway was established in 2002.
Mr Philpott said: "The challenges and difficulties facing young people in securing employment are greater now that at any time in the past 25 years.
"I will use my time in the post to establish strong links with entrepreneurs and the local business community, to ensure that the young people we work with have every opportunity to secure gainful employment and lead fulfilled lives."
Sean Kearns, CEO of CXK Ltd, said: "We are delighted to welcome David as our new independent chair. He has a wealth of experience and expertise within the business sector."
