A London city worker has started a new life as a guest house owner of a B&B in the Kent countryside which appeared on Channel 4 show Four in a Bed.

Denise Hill, from Bromley, bought the Langmead Guest House in Ramsgate with a £242,000 flexible business loan from NatWest.

The funding allowed her to leave her former job as a quality manager for a housing association in Croydon and fulfil her aspiration of starting her own business.

The guest house appeared on Four in a Bed last year featuring husband and wife duo Derek and Lynne Love, who had owned it for 27 years.

Ms Hill said: “I have a friend who quit an office job in London to become a campsite manager and when I saw how happy this friend was, I knew I wanted to do something similar.

“I realise it will be a challenge but I don’t want to spend the next 12 years of my working life behind a desk.

“I’ve always wanted to be my own boss and now thanks to the funding from NatWest I am able to take the plunge and start my very own business venture.

“The Langmead Guest House has a great reputation and it is in an ideal location to attract new guests. I am looking forward to building on its legacy and continuing its success.”

NatWest relationship manager Ahmed Khan said: “Denise is determined and passionate about her new venture.

“She has an impressive vision for the future of Langmead Guest House and on behalf of everyone at NatWest I wish her the best of luck.”
