Young entrepreneur Charmaine Kemp has scooped her second top award in three months.

The Dartford-based founder of Wheelie Good Mobility, a business that makes mobility scooters more affordable for elderly and disabled people, was named Shell LiveWIRE Southern England Region Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

In July, Charmaine won a similar accolade in the Kent Excellence in Business Awards (KEiBA).

Charmaine's award came at the end of a two-day conference which involved her pitching her ideas to Dragons' Den inquisitor Duncan Bannatyne, one of the competition judges. "It was pretty hard-core," said Charmaine, 27.

She also had a lively conversation with Sir Tom Farmer, founder of Kwik-Fit, who praised her business idea. "He gave a really inspiring speech. That was the highlight of my day."

James Smith, chairman of Shell, presented Charmaine's trophy, watched by Charmaine's proud dad Bob, from New Barn, near Gravesend.

Mark Prisk, Minister for Business and Enterprise, attended the event in London. He said: "As someone who ran his own business, I am always encouraged when young people start up successful businesses."

Charmaine is now in demand as a guest speaker, and hopes to encourage more women
