A house-building group based in Guildford has sealed the deal on a contract worth £100m from Kent County Council to build about 240 homes.

FTSE 250 construction group Galliford Try has reached financial close on a 25-year agreement to deliver the Excellent Homes for All scheme.

They will build and maintain supported housing for vulnerable people across Kent.

The firm hase revenues of £1.5bn and was announced as the preferred bidder for the scheme in December.

As part of seven schemes of supported housing it will now apply for planning permission for facilities in Tenterden, Stone near Dartford, Whitfield near Dover, Hawkhurst near Tunbridge Wells, Ramsgate and Ashford.

It is hoped building will get underway next year, with late 2015 targeted for opening.

Housing management services will be provided by the West Kent Housing Association.

Galliford Try chief executive Greg Fitzgerald said: “We are delighted to have reached agreement with our partners at Kent County Council on this initiative and are now able to get the project underway.

“Extra Care remains an important sector for Galliford Try and we look forward to providing the high quality homes and facilities that Kent’s residents deserve.”
