Award-winning boss Sonja Wood who loves making the world of washrooms fun, interesting and eco-friendly hopes to clean up with another gong.

Ms Wood, founder of EcoSan Services, Ashford, was a finalist in the 2011 Kent Excellence in Business Awards (KEiBA) and her firm won the KEiBA Business Commitment to the Environment Award.

Now the entrepreneur has been shortlisted in two categories of the Institute of Directors' London and South East Director of the Year, sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers.

She is in line for the Director of the Year award for a business with sales of up to £4.99m, and for New Business Director of the Year.

She is this year's only shortlisted woman director and the only Kent boss to reach the 2012 final.

EcoSan supplies green washroom services. It was the first southern-based enterprise to provide sanitary, nappy and incontinence recycling and recently achieved another first by recycling chewing gum. It recycles 75 tonnes of waste a year.

Ms Wood said: "I'm absolutely delighted to be recognised for my efforts to help reduce our carbon footprint. I'm passionate about the environment and have created a company that lives and breathes green values."

Rodger Broad, South East IoD director, said: "These annual awards recognise the hard work, inspiration and management skills of business leaders."

The results will be announced in London on March 29 in a ceremony hosted by Channel 5's Emma Crosby, with broadcaster Gyles Brandreth as the keynote speaker.
