Hundreds of mourners have turned out to pay their respects to the chairman of one of the county's leading companies.
Michael Conway, 67, was CEO of Sevenoaks-based FM Conway, for more than 40 years after taking over from his father Frank who founded the firm in 1961.
He passed away peacefully at home last month after a six-year battle with cancer.
A funeral service took place this morning at St Mary's church in Kippington, Sevenoaks.
The infrastructure company has grown dramatically over the years and now has offices, depot and production offices across the country.
Two years ago, Mr Conway moved into the chairman's seat while Adam Green took over the CEO role.
His daughter, Joanne Conway, the family firm's managing director, said at the time of his passing: “Both watching and being a part of the growth and success of FM Conway under Dad’s vision has been inspiring. It is truly a family business which means so much to so many people.
"As a family, we will honour my Dad’s memory by dedicating ourselves to ensuring that FM Conway, continues to thrive and support the people and businesses who have always been at our side.”
Michael Conway's son is the motor racing star Mike Conway.
He said of his passing: "I'll always remember all the racing we did together and all the hours in the garage tinkering with cars. Mostly Dad fixing all the things I broke but I learned a lot from this man.
"My dad has battled cancer for for the last few years of his life. Through this time he never complained but you could see it was hard on him and his body."
CEO Adam Green added: "We have lost an inspiring mentor and a visionary leader both for FM Conway and the construction industry. Michael has touched the lives of many and leaves behind him a business built upon and guided by strong family values.”
A spokesman for the firm added: "Anyone fortunate enough to have met Michael will know that he took true enjoyment in engaging with people and until recently, was well-known for his visits to sites and depots where he would speak to our frontline workers to ensure that he was hearing feedback first-hand.
"Michael was also the founder of the London Construction Academy, formed to provide opportunities for people not in employment, education or training. He was passionate about the future of our industry and ensuring that we supported and encouraged people into the construction industry."
Michael Conway was awarded an MBE in 2017 for his services to UK construction, infrastructure support and road safety.
