Budding entrepreneurs seeking cash for their good ideas could strike it lucky if they convince investors in a Dragons Den-style grilling.
Finance South East, the regional funding organisation that manages the Kent Investor Club (KIC), has teamed up with the Institute of Chartered Accountants for England and Wales (ICAEW) to host a showcase of good investment opportunities.
The event will be held at the Marriott Tudor Park Hotel, Bearsted, near Maidstone, on May 13.
Kent-based entrepreneurs will be invited to present their businesses to the audience before undergoing a rigorous interview by a panel of local investors.
ICAEW and KIC members, professional advisors and other experts involved in fundraising for clients or their business will be on the look-out for ventures that show growth potential.
The ICAEW already sponsors road shows across the country that aim to raise the profile of investment angels as small businesses and start-ups look for finance.
Sally Goodsell, chief executive of Finance South East, said: "The Kent Investor Club has gained fast momentum and we are expecting the first deals to be closed.
"This event is targeted at professionals in the region to set up referral structures which will be beneficial for their entrepreneurial clients and the KIC members to ultimately add value to the County of Kent."
Fay Webster, ICAEW regional director, added: "The collaboration with the Kent Investor Club can help gain insight into the Business Angel market and to establish contacts with its players.
"It is also an opportunity for accountants - with their financial expertise, network of contacts and eye for detail to become involved."
