John Lewis Bluewater is the retailer’s stellar performer in a record-breaking run to Christmas.

Latest figures show that takings at the Bluewater store are 23 per cent ahead of last year at the same time.

It leads flagship John Lewis outlets such as Oxford Street (up 19 per cent) and Sloane Square’s Peter Jones (up 16 per cent).

The latest data comes just days after John Lewis reported its best ever sales performance.

Andrew Murphy, John Lewis Partnership’s director of operational development, said: "Sales from Sunday to close of business of Wednesday are tracking some five per cent ahead of last week and over 16 per cent ahead of 2008 levels. The newly refurbished and extended Bluewater store is leading the way though at 23 per cent."

Strong selling lines include Zeppelin speaker docks, Uggs, camcorders, winter spice fragrance diffusers, Christmas doormats, microwaves and tights.
