A Kent golf course has retained its top rankings in the list of Top 100 Golf Courses of England 2016.

For the second year running, Royal St George’s in Sandwich ranked the No.1 course in the country.

Four other Kent courses also featured in the list.

“There’s nothing artificial about Royal St George’s Golf Club," the Top 100 Golf Courses stated."There’s a natural look and feel to the course that blends beautifully into its historical Sandwich surroundings”.

Just a few miles along the coast at Deal is Royal Cinque Ports, which took 15th position in the list.

Another Sandwich course, Prince's, made it to 58th spot and Littlestone, also on the coast near New Romney, came in at 76th. In West Kent, the London Golf Club reached 84th position in the highly prestigious list.

Over the years, 17 Open Championships have been played in Kent, most recently at Royal St George’s in 2011, when Darren Clarke won the tournament.

“We think it’s our best ever list," says Keith Baxter, Editor-in-Chief of Top 100 Golf Courses

"Why? Because we’ve received way more input from many more contributors than ever before, and we know that the more opinions we get, the better the rankings become,” .

The inclusion of these five courses in the English Top 100 shows the depth and quality of the golf offering in Kent, which is home to over 100 courses.
