00:01, 08 December 2016
A private hospital in Kent is opening its fifth operating theatre after a £250,000 investment.
KIMS Hospital in Maidstone will treat orphopaedic patients in the room, which will be fitted with new air-flow technology.
The kit, supplied by Brandon Medical, will improve ventilation, which is important for broken bone sufferers undergoing surgery because of the increased risk of infection.
KIMS, which is the largest independent hospital in the county, was launched on the Kent Medical Campus near Junction 7 of the M20 in 2014.
Chief executive Simon James said: “We have an important role to play in delivering the healthcare services people require and supporting patient choice close to where they live.
“Investing in new technology and opening a new theatre shows out commitment to the people of Kent.
“I’m also delighted that by collaborating with local GPs and consultants we have ensured that our fifth operating theatre is equipped to treat additional orphopaedic patients and privide the highest standards of healthcare.”
