The inaugural KM Group Golf Challenge was such a hit that it is
likely to become a regular fixture on the county's sporting and
corporate calendar.
The sun shone on more than 40 golfers as they teed off on the
Leeds Castle course against the stunning backdrop of "the loveliest
castle in the world."
The nine-hole course proved a real test for even seasoned
golfers, and the Peugeot car offered by sponsor Haywards of
Sevenoaks for a hole-in-one went unclaimed back to the
forecourt.
A dozen teams took part, representing businesses across the
county and beyond.
After a titanic battle, the major honours went to Provan
Pipework, based in Ringwood, Dorset, but with close links to
Sittingbourne and Herne Bay.
The four-man team won tickets to a Manchester United game at Old
Trafford, along with golfing umbrellas courtesy of insurance firm
and main sponsor Aon Risk Solutions. Runners-up, winning tickets to
Leeds Castle's firework display on Guy Fawkes Night, were
Debtcollectors.co.uk and Pillory Barn, Maidstone.
Shane Guy, head of publicity at Leeds Castle, a sponsor, said:
"We were delighted to host the first KM Group Business Golf
Challenge. Leeds Castle and the KM Group have a long-established
relationship."
KMG business development manager Paul Harvey said: "It went
extremely well and we're very pleased. It was well organised with
some generous sponsors."
