Palletline acquire S&S Distribution, based in Tonbridge

The services of a distribution company have been snapped up by a haulage company, as they aim to improve services in the South East.
Palletline, based in Birmingham, have acquired the business of S&S Distribution, and its warehousing activities.
The family run distribution and logistics company, based in Tonbridge, has worked closely with the UK palletised distribution network for more than two decades, and now the the two will combine, planning to offer improved services to customers.
By joining forces, the expertise and warehousing know-how will help strengthen the presence of both firms in the South of England.
S&S has always been a family run business, since forming in 1968, with just one small lorry specialising in removals and general transport, they are now one of the leading members in Palletline’s network, allowing their coverage to spread nationwide.
The S&S company name and branding will remain the same, under the guidance of existing managing director, Richard Ball, with all current management and staff retaining their jobs.
Co-owner Ken Sanderson said: “We genuinely feel like we’re leaving the family business in the safest possible hands, so we’ll look forward to seeing the company flourish moving forwards.”
Commenting on the merge, managing director for Palletline, Graham Leitch, said: “S&S Distribution is a business with a proud heritage and an enviable reputation both in Kent and throughout the UK.
He added: “We will be able to further strength our market position in delivering excellent service in London and the South East. We respect the heritage of S&S Distribution and we look forward to working closely with the business to ensure its fantastic standards of customer-driven services continue.”
