A Kent haulage firm has acquired the business and assets of London-based hauliers Hallett Silbermann.
Rochester-based R Swain and Sons says the strategic addition will give them a London base at the site in Hatfield on the A1, just north of the M25.
Hallett Silbermann is the seventh acquisition since 1999 by fourth-generation family firm Swain Group.
The deal adds a fourth depot to the company’s existing sites in Rochester, Manchester and Burton-on-Trent, giving them more operational flexibility across the country.
Dartford and Tunbridge Wells-based law firm Thomson Snell & Passmore advised the firm throughout the transaction.
Partner Joanne Gallagher said: “This was a complex transaction which drew on different areas of our corporate and commercial property teams’ expertise.
“We look forward to seeing R Swain and Sons continue to go from strength to strength”.
R Swain and Sons managing director Bob Swain said: “I would like to thank Joanne Gallagher and her team for all for the long hours and the very hard work they put into this acquisition. It was great to have such a team of professionals on board to see the project through.”
Recent Swain Group projects include a cross-continental transportation of a large static crane and the Lee Tunnel Project, which involved the carriage of hundreds of concrete segments to create a 7km long sewer tunnel.
