An energy efficiency firm has won a series of contracts to install LED lighting worth more than £1.5 million.

Minimise Energy, a subsidiary of APC Technology, based in Strood, will supply 18 London Fire Brigade stations under one deal and carry out works at a major London university in another.

Both are under the Mayor of London’s RE:FIT programme, designed to reduce carbon emissions in Greater London.

Another contract will see it replace outdated lighting at five key Eastbourne Borough Council buildings, including Eastbourne Town Hall.

This will cut lighting energy consumption by about 64% at each site.

The announcement follows the completion of work at 16 buildings owned by Haringey Council, which will help to save the authority £100,000 a year.

APC Technology chief executive Richard Hodgson said: “I am very pleased to be able to start the New Year with further contract successes for the group.

“It’s very encouraging and testament to the hard work of our Minimise Energy team that the new contracts comprise both new and existing customer relationships.”

The announcement follows a difficult year for APC, in which its chief executive resigned in August just days after the business issued a profit warning.

Mark Robinson had led the firm for more than a decade but was replaced when the firm, which is listed on the AIM, warned shareholders to expect lower profits, after contracts failed to materialise.

Mr Hodgson added: “As previously announced, the year to August 2015 was a difficult year for the group, which the full year results announcement will bring closure to.

“With the great progress that we have made since then, through the implementation of our operational review and in the business retained and new business won, we are starting 2016 full of confidence.”
