Nearly 170 new homes will be built at a business park after a near 10-acre plot was sold to one of the UK’s largest house builders.

Prologis, a global industrial real estate company, has sold 9.2 acres with planning permission to Persimmon Homes.

The property developer will build 169 houses in a densely-packed area of the Bridge business park in Dartford, with 30% set to be affordable housing.

The Bridge is a 264-acre mixed-use project that Prologis is developing with Dartford Borough Council.

Persimmon has already built 90 homes on the site in the first phase of its residential scheme.

They will shortly submit another planning application to Dartford council to resolve outstanding issues such as access, appearance and landscaping.

It will be constructed along the southern and eastern shores of the south lake of the business park.

“The Bridge is rapidly growing into an exciting new community..." - Andrew Shankster

In line with the first phase of development, the new housing scheme has been designed to comply with the sustainability principles and will include Persimmon’s timber frame eco-housing.

Persimmon’s south east managing director Andrew Shankster said: “There has been a great deal of interest in phase one of our development at the Bridge and since this is almost complete, we are delighted that we can now offer a further phase to potential home-buyers.

“The Bridge is rapidly growing into an exciting new community and it is very good news that we will continue to have a role in its development.”

Prologis UK’s managing director Andrew Griffiths added: “We are delighted with progress at the Bridge. As these recent deals show, the development is attracting both commercial occupiers and house-builders to Dartford.

“We worked with the council to design the Bridge as a sustainable development where people could both live and work and we are delighted to see that the original vision is turning into reality.”
