A fast-growing manufacturer is creating 10 new jobs after moving to larger premises.

Component Force, a family-owned company founded by managing director Paul Gardner in a Harrietsham bedroom 10 years ago, has unveiled a new factory and warehouse in Rochester.

The firm which makes and distributes plastic, rubber and foam products has moved from Birling to the former Remploy factory in Laker Road close to Rochester Airport.

Component Force employs 25 people and Mr Gardner said 10 more would be needed over the next few months.

"Our goal is to achieve a £10m turnover in he next five years and expand overseas operations."

It has defied the downturn to boost sales to £2m and aims to expand sales by developing a United States venture.

Component Force has been singled out for expert help because of its high-growth potential. The firm bought its new £1 million HQ through the Enterprise Guarantee Loan Scheme.

Jonathan Shaw, south east regional minister and MP for Chatham and Aylesford, cut a red ribbon to mark the official opening.

He said manufacturing was vital. The south east was the UK's second biggest manufacturing region just behind the West Midlands.

"With its ambition for growth, Component Force is the type of company the south east and the country need to ensure our future success in a very competitive and global economy," he said.

"We are all delighted with what you are doing for our country and local area."
